Life is Breath

Most likely, if you happen to have a problem with your breathing, you may, for a moment, fully appreciate your life and your breath.

Today, my 94-year-old father had surgery on his lungs. It all turned out okay. But spending the day looking at X-rays, talking to doctors about optimal breathing capacity, healthy respiration, and lung tissue, got me to be grateful and aware of something I usually take for granted.

Over the years, I've compiled all kinds of research on the breath, traveled to India to practice breathing, studied with physicians, professors, and collegues on breath education, even taught celebrities how to breathe. Yet, when breathing becomes personal, and a matter of life and death, you remember that the breath alone as your conscious self, is the most precious thing you have.

How you breathe is how you live.
